The jury is in and Hulk Hogan has been awarded a whopping $115M… $55 million for economic injuries and $60 million for emotional distress in the invasion of privacy suit against Gawker Media for originally posting the Hulk Hogan leaked sex tape video.

It took 4 women and 2 men just 6 hours to come to the decision that Gawker was in the wrong for posting the tape to the public and believed that Gawker knew their actions would cause a lawsuit. Founder Nick Denton and his attorneys went into the suit with high hopes after a previous win in court, but also have a back up plan to appeal the decision immediately and as a last resort file for bankruptcy protection in the event of an award of this size sticks after appeals. So yeah, Hulk won the suit, but won’t see that much, if anything.

Hogans lawyer stated: “Mr. Bollea is exceptionally happy. This is not only his victory today, but also anyone else who’s been victimized by tabloid journalism.” While the attorney was giving his speech hogan was holding back tears behind his dark shades. They will now be due back in court Monday to see if there will be any punitive damages in the case.

Denton goes on to say: “Given key evidence and the most important witness were both improperly withheld from this jury, we all knew the appeals court will need to resolve the case. … That’s why we feel very positive about the appeal that we have already begun preparing, as we expect to win this case ultimately.”

The biggest selling point that the legal team for Hulk had in the case was painting Gawker as a horrible media company by not even getting in touch with Hulk about the tape they had in their grubby little hands on first. “Any reputable news site would have reached out to my client in an attempt to solve the issue one on one and without this clear dis-regard of privacy.” Said Hogans attorney.

So all in all, the legal team of Hogan was successful in painting the entire Gawker crew of reporters as gossip mongers that prey on the lives of the rich & famous that simply make money off the pain and suffering from the people they report on. The jury seemed to agree, big time!

The entire case has been crazy with bull s**t everywhere as we previously reported Heather Cole committed perjury and Gawker knew a lawsuit would happen.

So, we guess if you get your hands on an exclusive celebrity sex tape, hit up the celeb first and see if you can work something out (*cha-ching*)… Or better yet, just post it online anonymously and no one would have been the wiser. Were just sayin’ ;)~
