Rumors are circulating that Chris Evans quit BBC Top Gear after the first season, however those rumors are completely false, he was in fact forced to resign!
So this Tweet by Chris today is total BS:
Stepping down from Top Gear. Gave it my best shot but sometimes that's not enough. The team are beyond brilliant, I wish them all the best.
— Chris Evans (@achrisevans) July 4, 2016
ShowbizSpy sat down with a local Top Gear insider that spilled the beans on just what the hell is going on with the show. Our source tells us: “Chris was simply not cut out for the shoes he tried to fill of Jeremy Clarkson. He was not the most knowledgeable, not a very good driver and caused high tensions on set with his constant poor attitude. In fact, Matt LeBlanc told executives that if he was not gone after the season, he was going to have to go himself… after the two had several heated exchanges off camera.”
Our source goes on to tell us: “In the episode where Chris had to pull over and throw up, after a nice little round the track, Matt could not believe it, saying loudly: (I can not believe the host of one of the all time best gear head shows ever, is on the side of the road throwing up after a track run, that is so sad).”
The BBC is now negotiating with former Friends star LeBlanc to remain on the show for a second series and promises to give LeBlanc more control over the show. The details and success of those negotiations are not yet known.
Chris Evans had signed a 3 year deal, however the BBC has said there will be no payoff and they will will only pay one third of the payment.
Evans does provide a statement to the local press: “I have never worked with a more committed and driven team than the team I have worked with over the last 12 months. I feel like my standing aside is the single best thing I can now do to help the cause. I continue to remain a huge fan of the show, always have been, always will be. I will continue to focus on my radio show and the allied events that it encompasses.”
Social media has been going crazy about the move, with about 90% of them happy as shit he is leaving the show.
Hey we got an idea… BRING BACK JEREMY CLARKSON, RICHARD HAMMOND AND JAMES MAY WITH MATT LEBLANC AND STOP LETTING THE EXECUTIVES RUIN THE FU%^ING SHOW!!!!!
